What it does

A polyrhythmic gate, between two reverbs, pulsed by the chord you hold.

Pulse is an MPE-driven polyrhythmic step gate sitting between a pre-gate WASH reverb and a post-gate TAIL reverb. Each held note triggers a gate at its own rate: C2 = 1/4, C3 = 1/8, C4 = 1/16, C5 = 1/32, with chromatic semitones in between mapping to polymeter ratios. Hold a chord and three rhythms layer on top of each other, pressure-weighted across the held voices into one mix.

The pre-gate WASH blooms when you lean in, the gate chops the wet signal into pattern, the post-gate TAIL glues the chops back into a coherent space. Four reverb modes per stage (Plate, Room, Hall, Cloud) and sixteen factory presets across Drop, Mix, Texture and Voice categories. The whole gated-reverb gesture, on a single keyboard, played by hand.

MPE routing

One finger, gate and reverb at once.

Pulse proves MPE belongs in audio effects, not just synths. Every gesture drives a gate parameter AND a matching reverb parameter, so a single fingertip pulls both halves of the sound in the same direction.

Note
Picks the gate's rate. C2 / C3 / C4 / C5 are the octave anchors; chromatic semitones between are polymeter ratios.
Strike (velocity)
Gate attack + reverb predelay. Hit harder for a sharper gate edge and a longer pre-spread before the WASH blooms.
Pressure
Gate floor + decay + sustain, plus reverb size + decay. Lean in for more energy everywhere - louder gate body, bigger wash, longer tail.
Slide (Y)
Gate ceiling + reverb damping. Slide forward to open the gate higher and brighten the wash; back closes it and warms it.
Pitch bend
Gate phase + reverb mod depth. Bend wobbles the gate timing for off-grid drift and modulates the reverb tail.
Lift (release)
Gate release + reverb snap. Quick lifts choke the gate tail and snap the wet wash off; soft lifts let the tail breathe.

Requirements

What it runs on, today.

Quiver plugins are designed MPE-first and tested in real workflows before they ship. The supported set is deliberately narrow right now so every shipped plugin works the way the page describes. Wider coverage comes as each host gets a full pass.

OS support

macOS on Apple Silicon (M1 or newer), VST3 and AU. Windows 10 or later, VST3, 64-bit. Intel Macs are not yet supported.

Tested in

Ableton Live 12, Bitwig Studio, and Reaper. Other MPE-aware VST3 / AU hosts should work.

Logic Pro

Audio effects can't receive MPE in Logic. The host doesn't route per-note expression to effect tracks. We'll lift this note when Apple changes that.

Controllers

Designed for Osmose, Push 3, Seaboard, LinnStrument, Continuum. Plays as a complete static patch on any MIDI keyboard; the per-finger gestural surface unlocks the day an MPE controller arrives.
